There’s always melancholy with endings. But as the expression goes, endings are just the end of a beginning. By the time this journey would wrap up in Bogota, that would become exceedingly clear. This was the last stop. Dom had returned home already, Vin was heading home, and Fab was going to pack up La Oficina and get on a plane bag to Berlin as well. Before shipping La Oficina home though, Fab had one last bucket list item to check off.

Ep. 09: Ecuador – A Journey to the Middle of the World
After spending a month in Peru, it was time to head up north to Ecuador. The drive there had the usual – working on the sides of dirt roads, the car breaking down and waking up besides the ocean. Well that’s been pretty usual on this trip. What wasn’t as usual were the entrepreneurs and nomads we’d meet, including the “Steve Jobs” of Ecuador who would share his ideas on what work is, should, and can be. Oh yea, Fabian gets a good whipping and also exposes the scam at … Continue reading Ep. 09: Ecuador – A Journey to the Middle of the World
Fabian’s Keynote at DNX Berlin: Writing the life story you want to read
Exactly today, one year ago, Vin, Dom and Fabian started StartupDiaries. As with most things worth doing, it started as a crazy idea; running our company from a Land Rover was pretty ambitious. Through a deep belief in the idea, and taking the necessary incremental steps, one at a time, we made the whole adventure a reality. Before we could blink an eye, we were sitting in the Land Rover somewhere in a desert in Peru, doing a call with a client in the US and it felt like the most normal … Continue reading Fabian’s Keynote at DNX Berlin: Writing the life story you want to read
Ep. 08: Ctrl+Alt+Del in the Jungle
After a really long drive across Chile and into Peru – the team arrived in Lima exhausted and it wasn’t getting better. Endless interviews, new business, and keeping up with Startup Diaries – it all became almost unbearable. To relieve the stress, the team took a business incentive, a retreat, deep into the Peruvian jungle to escape the day-to-day and reset with the help of a shaman and his substances.
Ep. 07: Digital Nomads in the Desert
Our road trip from Santiago into Peru, took us through 3500km of the wildest, most barren landscape you can come across. To the west the Pacific Ocean with crashing waves and endless beaches, dotted with the occasional fishing village. To the right – deserts that stretch as far as the eye could see. A marked contrast from the waterfalls and other landscape we’d been through to date. We would need every bit of the Defender’s ruggedness to make it – without missing a single meeting. It took a lot of … Continue reading Ep. 07: Digital Nomads in the Desert
How To Run a Company From a Land Rover Defender (While Driving Across South America)
Tech Open Air Berlin is the perfect “unconference” for Berlin. It is a city that is bustling with creativity, in the worlds of science, music, art, and of course, tech. Since 2012, TOA has been bringing these ideas together for 2 days, packed with workshops, music events, parties, “pitch-nics” and great opportunities for interdisciplinary networking between normally separated worlds. So it was a great honor to be able to present Startup Diaries in a workshop entitled “How To Run a Company From a Land Rover Defender”. Fabian shared what he learnt … Continue reading How To Run a Company From a Land Rover Defender (While Driving Across South America)
